It is completely reasonable to support Real names in multiple languages out of the box, since it's basically a matter of providing a language object to token_replace() which should handle the rest.

Note that fixing #1775768: Backport langcode support for all entity labels in Drupal 7 is a major blocker to making this work, but there is still some things we can do in the meantime to support different real names in different languages.

Looks like the "language layout" is set in the field settings. But for a multilingual site, wouldn't this need to change in the field widget?
