openlog() & syslog() warning on install

Hello,

I get an openlog() & syslog() warning after installing open deals distribution.

* warning: openlog() has been disabled for security reasons in /public_html/modules/syslog/syslog.module on line 102.
* warning: syslog() has been disabled for security reasons in /public_html/modules/syslog/syslog.module on line 117.

Consequently I cannot access the admin panel dashboard.

Other forum post say about this issue:
see if syslog and openlog are disabled..
check 'disable_function=' line in php.ini

Unfortunately my hosting provider does not allow me to change the php.ini settings :(
