I spent many hours trying to determine why the subscription part of lm_paypal didn't seem to be working as expected. I searched Drupal and eventually found a post that pinpointed the problem--but I could not find the post again to add this comment.
When setting up lm_paypal, you need to specify the same email address as the *primary* email address in your paypal account.
If you do not do this, the paypal billing/payment will work OK but the subscription part will not work correctly. For example, when a subscription is completed, the subscription status will not change and the subscriber role will not change.
I believe it is very important that the documentation be changed to make this clear.
Is there a solution possible that will accept any of the confirmed paypal email addresses?
