I took a look at the block styling at http://omega.developmentgeeks.com/ and didn't see any grid-X classes on the blocks but I thought it would be the best way to do it.

Is it generally not a good idea to put your blocks on a grid? What does everyone else do?

Right now I have played with the block_class module and it seems like it should work, I just second guess that since the Omega theme site itself doesn't use that method.

there is a module called block class, you can assign a block a class with it.
