Module: User Picture Resizer

sparq - September 23, 2007 - 19:55

I found a module named "User Picture Resizer" but it's support thread is closed. I also don't have an installation of drupal where I can install modules. So I got a couple of questions.. maybe someone out there have tried the module and know this?

Is this module working?
Do I need to know php to install it?
When installed and working, how do I resize an uploaded picture. It is easy? A screenshot would be great..

Hi Sparq, Not sure what you

Hi Sparq,

Not sure what you mean by the support thread being closed, there's been a few issues posted to the issue queue already, so I'm fairly sure it's open ;o) Maybe I'm missing the point?

In short, the module is a development version. It relies on javascript to work, and I originally based it around the scriptaculous library, which doesn't come with Drupal. It also relies on a 3rd party image cropper, which needs to be downloaded separately and uploaded into the module directory. You don't need to know PHP, but it's a teeny bit more complicated than just uploading the module and enabling it, as you would with any other.

Is it working? In most cases, though I know of one person who's experiencing some difficulty.

It's not as good as it could be. I'd like it to use a different javascript library - preferably jQuery, since that's the one that comes installed with Drupal. That'd make it a lot easier to install my module :o) Sadly, I'm not brilliant at javascript. Yet. Hopefully I can learn a bit more and make the improvements soon.

I really hope that helps a bit

Glad you find your way here jaywiseman!

No the support wasn't closed, my misstake, the thread under "View all support requests" was closed.

Your module is for user pictures, right? A question: would it be in your interest to in the future release a similar module to manipulate pictures in the content area?

This is something I'm planning to do, yes, once I'm happier with the original module working under jQuery.

Good luck

Great!

Good luck with the user picture module! And I hope that you will get the opportunity to make a module for the content area because me and I think a lot of other people would find it very useful.
