Description

Thanks for writing up the module.
We'll i can provide the code for hotmail and aol, which i've done a year ago. If anyone interested can see the demo here.
http://products.mycuzmoo.com/import/

Well the demo is not, drupal based, its custom PHP with Ajax.

Currently i don't have time to add/develop a patch. if anyone interested fell free to contact me.

Anyway thanks, keep it up.

Thank you for your share, actually yes i am very interested with hotmail and AOL contact List importers but the point is i really cannot find time to write them, if your scripts are GPLed i'll be more than happy to integrate them into dcl_importer.

Thank you

Cheers :)

Nice to hear from you. I am using a slightly different class than your msns class to pull the hotmail account and its GPL. I replied ur email with hotmail code.

regarding the AOL, a part of code was from my friend, so i am not sure abt the GPL thing. I'll ask her and let you know.

btw..see this PHP class it has gmail, yahoo, hotmail, orkut, myspace, rediff..GPL and php 5
http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/package/3895.html

If need help i can help you in integrating this class with yours...

I noticed that PHP5 was mentioned as a requirement for the new features.

Please DO NOT make this module dependent on PHP5 (yet!).

It'll lock a lot of potential users, like me, out of it!

The module shall wrok together with the drupal core which means that if drupal core supports PHP4 & PHP5 then the module also shall support them as will.

any news regarding hotmail and AOL importers?

I've tested the hotmail and Orkut in the above class. they seems to be worked. I didn't test the other providers. For orkut you need to php compiled with ssl.

Regarding AOL, the code is not GPL (I am sorry).

I've already sent a working copy of my hotmail code to your email.

Fell free to contact me.

well, it seems that i will have to write AOL by my self then unless someone knows a GPLed AOL contacts grabber.
regarding hotmail and orKut i will double check them again because i tried them more than once before but they did not seem to be working, anyway, i will double check them and see if they are working, if nothing wrong with them i will import them into dcl_importer.

I have tested this contactGrabber http://sourceforge.net/projects/contactgrabber/. It seems to be working fine. Anyone thinking of integrating it?

Ok guys, i believe that i do have some good news ;-)
i wrote an AOL contact importer and of course its under GPL so please feel free to use it for your own purposes as will :-)
now, in order to integrate this script into dcl_importer i need it to be tested so i do need some help from the AOL users to test this script and to post their feedbacks so i can add it to the bunch of providers that dcl_importer is dealing with.
to test the script, download the file attached with this comment and save it into your document root "if it was with .txt extension then rename it to .php", open the file aol.php and put your loginName and password in the first 2 lines respectively "omitting the license comment", save the file and run the script, and then please send me your notes and feedbacks if you have any.

NOTE: if you are to run this script more than once then please just don't forget to remove the generated cookie file located at /var/tmp/aol_loginName_cookiejar.txt, please also note that i didn't test it under windows i only intend to use it under Linux.

Cheers, Ma'moon

I personally would say move this module to PHP5, because in February 2008 PHP is going to cut support for PHP4. So it's high time to be updating to PHP5 for all the ISPs out there.

Hi..
I'm really interested in this especially Hotmail and AOL.
I went to your demo and it works great but it seems to sign out my MSN when i press Import. Which is the same code that i had..

does anyone know other code that doesnt use MSN to import the contact list?

Cheers

Closing this as it hasn't been updated for about 1.5yrs and the D5 version is no longer maintained.
