Can you please clarify the license? Looks you require
1) the credits to be kept and
2) this theme or its derivative can not be used for commercial purpose.

Am I correct?

Are we allowed to remove credit from front page but keep inside the theme or you want to be visible?

to be in the drupal repo, I believe it HAS to be GPL.

from what I am reading you must link back to the sites listed in suitable place. which can be your footer to be able to use the theme.

I'd only like to note here that I have planed in past and plan in future to maintain the code on d.o. I'm very sorry that I have never answered to this question for the main reason that there have been open questions how this could be done.
