I was manually compiling a list of 6.x modules from the http://drupal.org/project/Modules page.

After filtering modules by 6.x compatibilty, the Administration "Category" list indicates a count of 7 modules. However, the vers.6.x "Administration" category detailed listing only has 6 modules. Why is the count different?

6.x filtered Category summary as of Sept.27 14:20 (GMT -06:00)

  • 3rd party integration (3)
  • Administration (7) - only 6 modules are listed when this category is browsed.
  • CCK (1)
  • Commerce / advertising (1)
  • Content (2)
  • Content display (5)
  • Developer (5)
  • Event (1)
  • Javascript Utilities (2)
  • Mail (1)
  • Media (2)
  • Multilingual (1)
  • Security (2)
  • Taxonomy (1)
  • Theme related (4)
  • User access/authentication (3)
  • User management (2)
  • Utility (7)

There are only the following 6 "project-item project-modules" class elements listed on the Adminstration 6.x category page. This is 1 short of what the link said there would be.

  1. Google Analytics
  2. Logging and alerts
  3. Sections
  4. Update status advanced settings
  5. Windows Live ID Integration
  6. Zeitgeist

Extra suggestion - Showing the Category "terms" div (found in the upper right of each full project page) when browsing by the short description would help re-inforce understanding of the categorizations used by drupal.org.

I see seven. You are missing re-index.
It is possible you saw an effect of the database sync.
