It would be really great if someone else could review this and mark it RBTC even though I have already released this as 7.x-1.0. I'll wait a while and see if anyone bites. If not I'll eventually mark this as fixed myself.

Needed this functionality for a site I'm working on. I created and deleted several customer profile types, with and without data entered using those profile types, and everything worked as I would expect.
