This consists of:

A) A token for formatting the "in the groups" part of a sentence depending on the number of groups associated with a message. Eg:

1: boston group
2: boston and philadelphia groups
3: the boston, philadelphia, and new york groups

B) Alter default message types from commons_activity_streams to add "In the groups" text to relevant messages. This may be achievable through hook_default_message_type_alter().
