I realized that I need to focus on the Drupal 8 Mobile Initiative and core work in general between now and feature freeze on December 1.

But I really want to polish up and release Zen 7.x-5.2 because it has some really interesting SMACSS-based CSS cleanup and finally uses @extend now that Sass 3.2 has been released.

I've asked echoz and KrisBulman if they'd like to be co-maintainers and they've said yes. Yayz! They've both been very active in Zen's issue queue, manage to find edge-case issues with the code, and have great ideas when it comes to improving Zen.

I consider this a first step in building an official team to support and build Zen.

Take a look at the project page now: http://drupal.org/project/zen

Congrats, Elly and Kris!

For now, I've given you all project permissions except making releases, but I'll probably give you this permission too after we hash out a process and allow myself to be comfortable with no-longer being the single gatekeeper for Zen improvements. :-)

I've marked this issue as "needs work" as I know you two have questions about how this is all going to work.

Glad to be part of this initiative! I think this will also be a big step in driving Zen into becoming a better theme for multi-developer projects. I'm also excited about the SMACSS-based approach Zen is taking, since I use this approach in all of my projects, I am looking forward to feeding some of that back into Zen.

How do you envision this process panning out? Initially, do you want us to have your approval before committing anything? (RTBC or otherwise)

Since I've been busy the last few weeks and am just coming round to taking a look at the queue again, are you redirecting Zen Grids bug reports to the github issue queue?
