Line 25: This sets the image width to 100px. It seems to work best without a definition at all. 100% seems to break the float to the right forcing it underneath on a teaser node.

I'm really not sure why that width was put in there. I removed the line in this commit: http://drupalcode.org/project/storefront.git/commit/c7b829a
