Is there a way for a message to be displayed upon successful user login? Most people could probably figure it out, but it would still be nice.

Not sure if this is a core issue or a module issue, though.

Just noticed this as well - pretty sure this a module issue, I don't think Drupal does any notifications when a user is logged in silently.
