If I assign a node a password and save that node, when I return to edit view for the node, the password field is empty. So there's no feedback if/whether that node has a password assigned to it. I'm thinking that, in my context, showing the password, and not bullet points, is my druthers.

you already have this with the 'This [node type] is protected' checkbox that is checked.
