Weird issue w Firefox

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem - or has any ideas on what else I can do to troubleshoot. I'm running Drupal 5.2 and it is no longer responding properly when I attempt to add content or edit when using Firefox 2.0.0.7 on my macbook pro. It works fine with safari on the same mbp, and also works fine with ie7 and firefox 2.0.0.6 on a windows xp machine.

The problem I'm having is that the drop down menus on the create/edit content pages are non-responsive; same with the preview/submit/delete button. To make it even more perplexing, every once in a while, if I clear my browser cache, I can get one drop down to open, but from then on, nothing.

I've tried what little I could think to do, like disabling modules added since the last time it worked properly and disabling firefox extensions added in the same time period.

I'm stumped and would appreciate any ideas you might have. I'm hoping its something glaringly obvious to someone with more experience than me.

Isolate the issue :
1) Try using your current machine with a fresh drupal install.
2) Try using the current drupal site with firefox on a 2nd machine.

This will tell if the issue is in firefox or drupal.

I'm going to go play with ie and firefox on my windows box in a bit, but here's another piece to the puzzle. Just tried making a post on my blog page using safari as my browser. Text entered with no problem, all drop downs worked as advertised, but when I hit either preview or submit my text is cleared from the text box and I get a notice telling me that "body field is required".

I'll post an update after I try to post on my other machine.

OK - here's the final tally:

On a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.4.1, Firefox 2.0.0.7 - Drop down buttons and Preview/Submit/Delete buttons unresponsive. Safari 2.0.4 - all buttons respond but body text is lost on preview or submit.

On a Dell Desktop running Windows XP, Firefox 1.5 responds normally. Internet Explorer 6.0 - all buttons respond but body text is lost on preview or submit.

On a Dell laptop running Windows XP, Firefox 2.0.0.6 responds normally. Internet Explorer 7.0 responds normally.

Any ideas?

here's an update on troubleshooting so far....

The Firefox 2.0.7 issue has been (apparently, keeping fingers crossed) solved by disabling the CoComment Firefox add-on. The safari problem has been further refined to show that the body field is only dropped when using preview or submit on a blog post. Pages, etc appear to work fine. Haven't spent any time looking at the windows systems....
