It would be very useful if the media library used for the gallery in Julio could be selected as the source of images when adding or editing a node and using the image / additional images instead of having to upload a file. Also if the media library could be integrated into the wysiwyg editor when adding text to the body.

It would provide 1 location for managing media and consistency throughout the site for adding/removing images

I agree with your assessment unfortunately media and media gallery are not quite there yet. This is definitely on our roadmap and we will be working towards something better for this.

Media still suffers from some serious issues where it doesn't track file usage within WYSIWYG editors and as such drupal core can end up deleting files that *are* actually used in content but are not properly tracked via managed files.

#1619748: make sure all julio content types have a generic file attachment field is related to this, and will be tracking future progress.
