installation freezes

i've installed drupal 5 or 6 times on dreamhost and it always worked fine. Now i installed it on ipowerweb host and it is not working.

Would anybody know why, just after installation, all those errors and warnings are shown when i first visit the site?:
(my settings.php file is configured correctly)

In Drupal 5 you should not enter your settings in settings.php before installation, because Drupal considers that the installation is already done and looks for the tables.

Upload a fresh settings.php file and enter your database information only in the installation form.

Geez, this installation is getting complicated for nothing...

You were right about the settings.php. i've reset the default value and drupal showed me the database settings form.
After entering the right data and click "save configuration", this message appeared:

We were unable to lock a test table on your MySQL database server. We tried locking a table with the command LOCK TABLES drupal_install_test WRITE and MySQL reported the following error: Access denied for user: 'myuser_user1@localhost' to database 'mydb_db'.

Can it have anything to do with the host? (ipowerweb.com)?

Possibly.

After you create the database and the database user, INSTALL.mysql.txt says that you must grant the user these privileges (either from your cpanel or drom the command line):

GRANT SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE, DROP, INDEX, ALTER, CREATE
TEMPORARY TABLES, LOCK TABLES
ON databasename.*
TO 'username'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

But some hosts restrict LOCK TABLES and/or CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES. With some other hosts, you need to ask their tech support to do it.

That was it, yes.

Had to call Ipowerweb and wait an eternity on the line before i decided to use their livechat app. I waited half an eternity then.
