after I upload the file to the ftp, it sees the file there, but then when I import it, it gives me a 500 error. The file gets moved into the right folder, and the mp3 info is displayed on my frontpage, but the only thing that shows is the title and no file is attached.

you need to take a look at your server's php error log to get a better idea of what's causing the problem. you might be running out of memory.
