All - I would like to create an event "RSVP" module. Basically, when organizing events I'd like to be able to have people RSVP to them, saying they'll be there or not, and any other notes. This would be a natural extension to the existing modules (eg add an "rsvp" link to the event, which takes you to the RSVP form - or simply display the RSVP form below the event).
Has anyone considered this type of functionality, or addition?
I'd love to code it up, but I don't have the time right now, so if anyone would find this useful, and can do so, that would be excellent.

Yes, RSVP - and End Date
If the RSVP function means a note gets sent to the user that posts the event, then perhaps another possible function for this extension would be as an email booking/email reservations mechanism.
And while we're discussing extensions to the event module, I'd also like to suggest fields for an end-date, and/or fields for a duration or an intermittent occurrence for an event, eg. theatre or exhibition runs, weekly, monthly, two days in a week, etc.
I'll post this on the feature request page.

What does RSVP stand for? (n/t)

Uh...it's French...
"Rondez S'il Vous Plait" (Not 100% about the "Rondez" bit), but it's French for "Please Respond".
Basically, when you send out an invitation to an event, it would be nice if a logged in user could click on a "yes I will attend" button. That would take them to a web page that had a form with questions you could add to the invite (a simple form could be tacked onto the end of the event, which would be fine too). Something like "how many people", "what will you bring to the Potluck BBQ", "any comments for the event organizer?".
This would all be recorded into the database, and the event organizer/admin would be able to query it to see who has responded, and what they've commented/said, etc... Also, the RSVP could be emailed to the event organizer/admin.
