Thanks for trying to download Commons! We recently fixed an error that caused packaging to fail: #1789738: Core patch URL must not be HTTPS - Once the nightly snapshot is re-packaged, the download URL should be restored.

Please re-open this issue if you're unable to download the nightly dev snapshot in 12 hours. Thanks!

At time of writing, http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/commons-7.x-3.x-dev-core.tar.gz gives a 404 error.

You can check on the specific cause of the tarball being missing by visiting the download node page:

The build was temporarily broken, but should be resolved with http://drupalcode.org/project/commons.git/commit/c6c6486.

Looks like it's now broken with this set of errors, which I suspect is an intermittent error with the packager, rather than the Drush make script:

The snapshot is back again.

I worked with killes in #drupal-infrastructure to troubleshoot this. Apparently changing only the AdaptiveTheme project to use the git:// protocol allowed the packaging job to complete without hanging.

killes/drumm weren't immediately sure why this resolved the issue.
