Integrating newsletter archives with Views (or more flexibility in block display)

Any chance of integrating some of the data returned from the API into Views?
The newsletter archive block is cool, but a pretty blunt instrument. It would be good to be able to limit the number of newsletters displayed, to apply filters against titles and dates, and to pick which fields are displayed.
At the very least it'd be handy if more css classes were included in the block output...
