How do I open a terminal window in DrupalPro?

The best terminal to use is the Guake Terminal which is accessed by the "F4" key. It is an overlay that is easy to access from anywhere. You can also access the Terminal program by typing "terminal" in the Dash home area (top button in the sidebar). I use Guake almost exclusively now.

Hi, I appreciate knowing where people run into problems, so everyone is encouraged to request support. However, please try searching the internet first. Using your question: How do I open a terminal window in (Ubuntu) [substituting Ubuntu for DrupalPro] returns a very good answer: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UsingTheTerminal

DrupalPro is just Ubuntu 12.04, plus some applications and configuration to make it work better (and so you don't have to set it up) for Drupal/Web development. I've also removed some packages that are not essential, in order to reduce the size of the image.

All that said, what @seanhe said is correct. (thanks @seanhe!)

I added guake for users that are in and out of the terminal frequently. The desktop wallpaper also has instructions. In addition to dash, CTRL-ALT-T is the shortcut to open a terminal in Ubuntu.

Note: You can assign other shortcuts by going into: System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts. Guake's default shortcut (set inside guake settings, not system settings) is normally F12, but I changed it to F4 since many web people know F12 as the key in a browser that opens firebug/developer tools. It used to drive me crazy. :-)

Thanks for the replies. Got it figured out.
Comming from QuickStart, there was a very obvious shortcut button for the terminal. So, I was surprised DrupalPro did not have something similar, and it was not very intuitive on how to find it in Unity.
Unity seems very different to me (primarily a Windows user), especially the taskbar & 'start' menu.

Great! Unity is definitely different... also, please feel free to submit future support requests, but also know that the #drupalpro channel in IRC is a good place for realtime support. Just as #drupal, #drupal-support, and others are useful channels.

IRC is the lifeblood of Drupal. I'm a huge fan of IRC in promoting community and connections -- and why I've made it easy in DrupalPro to connect. Just click X-chat on your taskbar (it'll prompt you to enter a nickname ... that's it)
