The "view simple menu" access control doesn't seem to work. If unchecked, the menu still loads for users. What exactly controls whether or not the simple menu appears? Is there any way to prevent it from appearing for certain users besides blocking it from a separate theme?

This appears to be working 100% correctly. Please try downloading the latest 4.0 version.
