Markers and Zoom Control Disappear When Reopening Browser

I just installed GMAP and location modules and everything worked fine out of the box until I closed my browser. When I reopened the browser the zoom control in the left upper corner does not reappear and the location markers are gone. This happens with both IE7 and the latest Firefox. Even though authentication/registering/etc. is not required to view or use the default user location map, if you re-signin, then everything reappears.
