Problems with eCommerce module

danielb - September 28, 2007 - 05:24

Here are some problems with Drupal's eCommerce system.

- Fails to mention the words "Tax Invoice" this is a legal requirement for all invoices.
- Fails to specify business name in large letters
- Fails to specify business' Australian Business Number - this is a legal requirement for all invoices.
- Fails to mention address of business.
- Does not provide Subtotal for invoice
- Does not state the word "Total" before the total price.
- Does not explicitly state the Good & Services Tax, which is a legal requirement for most industries.

I don't see any backend options for any of these. Thumbs down.

Issues with E-Commerce invoices

It seems that your issues focus on invoice theming. This should be easily modifiable via templates. The problem is that most of your issues are specific to Australian law. It would not make any sense for the E-Commerce team to show an "Australian Business Number" by default on invoices when the majority of E-Commerce sites don't have an Australian Business number. As Scor says, you can look at the Ubercart ecommerce module for Drupal, but you will still have to make these changes. I suspect you will have to make some modifications to the invoice for any ecommerce modules you choose.
