If you just enable the module and apply formatter to an field without saving the options the effect sent to the javascript is "none" which triggers following js error:

Error: TypeError: $img[options.effect] is not a function
Source File: sites/all/libraries/jail/jquery.jail.js?mawjzv

It should be set to default 'show'.
