I was just following the module tutorial for Drupal 5, but that seems to be incompatible with Drupal 6.

Is there a tutorial for module development with Drupal 6? Maybe a simple template to begin with?

Not yet I guess, or else it would be there. For now there is only the conversion guide:

But even this may change a bit if a problem comes up. It is still early.

All docs are volunteer written, so feel free to start re-writing the D5 modules developer docs for D6. Any registered user should be able to add new pages.

What I would do is follow the D5 tutorial, and get my version 5 module working. Then, install the version 5 coder module and use it to examine your version 5 module (while selecting the checkbox 'upgrade 5.x to 6.x).

It allowed me to upgrade one of my simple modules in about 10 minutes.
