Linking to an image using the mediawiki syntax [ http://my-domain.de/bild.j p g description] (without spaces..) will not create a link (a-tag) but an img-tag immediatly. that's different from the described syntax.

What, exactly, does this have to do with the wikitools module?
The wikitools module does not provide a filter of its own. If you are interested in a wiki-like filter, look into the Pearwiki Filter or Freelinking modules.
