Is there any chance someone might list out some steps for creating a working Drupal 6 module out of this patch?

I've only patched a module once before, but that was for either 4.x or 5.x and my searches are failing me tonight. I would prefer to simply do it via file edits rather than mess around with patching software which, if I recall correctly, is often a pain if you don't already have it set up and are not using it regularly. Thanks in advance!
