Is the Drupal Handbook available in a download somewhere? Either as a PDF or just a .zip would be fine.

When I click on Handbook I can't find any quick and easy method to get the entire thing onto my local machine. I'd like to be able to read through the entire thing while not online.

If you click on the printable version, you get whatever section you're viewing in one long plain HTML file, unpaginated. That came in handy for me yesterday when I was working on some templates, needed to read the instructions, and found drupal.org periodically unavailable.

Yeah, but I'm asking whether the entire Handbook is available in a single file. Ideally, a PDF.

It seems like a common sense thing that would be available.

Some of the info is becoming dated but it is still the best source for offline info.
At least for now.

I wasn't clear enough.

Go to the top level of the handbook.

Click the link at the bottom of the page that says "Printer friendly version." You'll get the entire handbook in one long clean unthemed HTML page.

The book is a hierarchy. You can do the same thing from any section to get only that section, if you prefer a subset.

If you want a PDF version, just print the result to PDF using any PDF printer driver, such as cutePDF on Windows or the commecial full version of Adobe Acrobat.

I just did it. With CutePDF, it took about 90 seconds on my machine to create a 234-page PDF of the entire handbook.
