possible to trigger transliteration with Views and the "Output field as link" option?

i need to generate some links using the title text (instead of node number etc.).
But some titles contain accents and punctuation.
is it possible to get transliteration to sanitize the title - remove punctuation and convert accents etc.
I've googled and search the issues but failed to find anything.
