I need to add an arbitrary weight (5 lbs) to every order in Ubercart 2 to account for my product packaging. This amount would then cause the shipping quotes to be more accurate. I cannot roll that extra weight into the weight of my products because that will heavily skew the weights when someone orders multiple products.
I'm wondering if either of these ideas might be a workable solution... and if they are, then how can they be achieved?
1. Can I add an "invisible" product to every cart? That invisible product would not be seen by the shopper, it would cost $0, but it would have a weight of 5 lbs. That product would only be added to the cart one time per order.
or...
2. Is there a markup setting somewhere that will allow any cart weight to be increased by x lbs? The shipping module markups seem to only deal with marking up the actual shipping cost; that won't work for me here, since 5 extra pounds to one area may be more expensive than 5 extra pounds to another area.
I'm open to any other suggestions as well.
