Need to get the lightbox image that successfully appears after inserting the rel="lightbox" into the code to display to full screen size for easier reading and keep the original size of the image that was clicked to get to the lightbox version.

It sounds like you want to use the colorbox or lightbox module which provide the ability to specify the image size on the page and in the colorbox/lightbox. If using Drupal 7, colorbox has the better field interface.
Not Using Version 7
Only have Drupal Version 6 being used and no plans to go to Version 7. Just need the sample source HTML code wording to modify the line that currently contains the rel lightbox feature to get the lightbox image to display at full screen size.

in future please tag your thread with the version of drupal in use.
the image will display at the max dimensions it was uploaded. extending it beyond it's original dimensions would likely stretch the image to the point of blur or pixelation.
