For the past week, once a day like clockwork my site goes down due to "too many connections." It does not seem to be purely because of high traffic because the site has experienced 5 to 10 x more traffic in the past without such problems. I have tried some fixes found on general support threads to no avail.
This issue causes the site to crash and then the server needs to be rebooted after which it works fine.
Will pay an hourly rate to fix this, preferably payment over PayPal. Please contact ASAP with experience so we can get started.

If that does not work feel free to contact me at cguill at gmail dot com. And we can discuss any complex issues when I am not at work.

Had same problem
I was using an inexpensive host and received the same error message. FInally tech support admitted that my account only permitted 17 simulataneous database connections and the message indicated that i exceeded the max. It turns out that every additional module uses more db connections. the solution: might be a better host. at least not a $5 per month account.
