Amit,

It's been 9 days now on a project that you said would take you 1-2 days and I haven't even had any communication from you since you said you would do the project as outlined. You haven't responded to my emails, so I'm leaving a post here just in case you haven't received them for some reason.

I need to hear from you in the next day, otherwise I have to assume that you are backing out of the project in a very unprofessional manner and that I need to hire someone else instead.

Contact me ASAP.

Work was completed Next Day itself!

Hire Amit for good Drupal work

Thomas Sewell - October 16, 2007 - 18:39

The problem appears to have been that both of our emails were being spam-filtered by the other's mail system. False positives are extremely annoying!!!! I am unable to edit or delete my previous post at this time, so am adding this as a further clarification.

Just to be clear for anyone else reading this, Amit performs his contract and acts and communicates very professionally. This was just a complete misunderstanding based on neither of us receiving either's multiple emails, a problem that started just after we agreed on the terms and got work started on the project. Adding a note here to get his attention was a last resort, since I was unable to get a reply from him (since he wasn't seeing my emails and I wasn't seeing his emails) any other way.

I will likely give Amit a bonus on this contract due to the misunderstanding and delay. If you are considering a Drupal consultant, as another (too busy lately) Drupal consultant, I would recommend Amit for a quick and professional job.

Amit does excellent work

sander-martijn - October 19, 2007 - 03:35

I hired Amit to do some fairly complex module hacking that I didn't have the time to even think about. He did the job professionally and delivered on time and on budget and made sure that I understood not only what needed to be ported to the server but went through all the code with me as well. I look forward to working with him again soon and would be happy to provide more detailed recommendations for him to others.

Thanks Amit

js/drupal work

BilldaCat - October 19, 2007 - 18:33

I'd be looking to merge fotonotes and acidfree into drupal.. I've come close:

http://www.cvillessc.org/node/428

but need it to look better, and when a user goes to add a note, a checkbox list of drupal users gets displayed. When selected, a email notification is sent to the user that was tagged, alerting them of it (a la facebook). I don't have the JS knowledge to complete this, and am not sure how long it would take someone skilled in it to accomplish.

Thanks!

Js/drupal work

drupalexpert_amit - October 19, 2007 - 23:38

hi chad,

You have done some good work over there!

the module needs to be extended a little bit to add this functionality.

Step 1: You can use custom DB queries to fetch the userlist from the drupal database and create checkboxes to select.
Step 2: Add post processing to your module, where you just loop through the selected users >> fetch their emails from the DB >> send them emails using the drupal_mail() function.

I can do this for you if you do not have the time/inclination to go through the learning curve. This will cost you {quote sent via email}. Let me know if you have any queries (email).

Need immediate help and ongoing support.

Nigeria - October 25, 2007 - 23:15

I am building a rather large Drupal site with a large number of contributed modules. We have run into some "expected" performance issues and want help to resolve them asap.

Thereafter we will be looking for ongoing technical support on the project. Going forward we will also be looking to write custom modules that integrate several third party applications into Drupal.

Could you please indicate your suitability and fees for this sort of work.

I have already sent you an email but because of the email issues mentioned here I'm posting this message here too

Performance issues

drupalexpert_amit - October 26, 2007 - 01:06

dear ade,

You will find more info to resolve the performance issues with drupal here:
http://groups.drupal.org/node/6764

There has been a lot of discussion in several threads at drupal regarding performance related issues, but mostly they can be tackled by enabling caching in Drupal, and by improvng your hosting hardware.

Also, there are chances that the site performance may be getting affected due to some specific modules.
This will be too much effort for a single individual, to analyze and optimize the codes for each leaking module.
It is better to contact the authors (or put up the request at the module's issues/support page). It will be more practical that way.

amit

Hi there, looks like you've got some great feedback already.... so I'm interested too.

I've got a client whose requirements have grown beyond my drupal capability, so I'm potentially looking to get some contracting work to help me out specifically with:
-module development/extension
-theming from supplied html/PSD template

Can you supply examples of this type of work particularly, and associated price guides? Also, do you supply any documentation with your finished work? (so, for instance, if an issue arises with a module you've developed, I have a chance of debugging it myself if the code is commented!)

thanks,

We am very disappointed with you Amit...

R.E.D - November 9, 2007 - 22:03

Amit, 3 weeks ago we choose to start working with you instead of several other potential long term partners.. and we was very happy since you seemed so reliable and professional. Then you missed deadline, disappeared for several days and finally contacted us promising to deliver within a few days. This was the last we heard from you and almost two weeks has now passed since then :(

Client is very upset and angry with us and our company loose face since we put our trust in you as our Drupal developer.
We have sent you several emails asking for any information about progress but still up until today no reply.

This is not a professionell way of doing business and we hope to heard from you ASAP.

Huge disappointment

Amit was very nice and sweet before I hired him for my project.
He made promises he did not keep, he disappeared and did not communicate, leaving me with missed deadline.
Avoid this person.

Communication and professionalism

drupalexpert_amit - November 10, 2007 - 01:18

I guess Emails + Online Webmeeting + Skype Chats have stopped coming under "communication" these days!

And here is a list of work that i did (day before yesterday):
1. Initial consultation and setting project direction
2. Online screencast to train/guide on handling store management on the ubercart website
3. Theme change and layout modification

Here is a copy of my email sent to Ms. Strong a few hours before the post today itself:

And the fact that you say you did it for free? Not true. Everything you asked me, i agreed to pay you. Maybe you don't understand that the damage you caused me by not completing the work was much greater than the fees that you charge.
It's better to say upfront that you are busy and can't meet the deadline. At least the person can make a decision if he wants to wait for you or hire somebody else. I wish you all the best.

Positive feedback

Jerome5 - November 14, 2007 - 20:02

It's too bad reading all those negative posts here while I've got a positive experience with this consultant.
See http://drupal.org/node/190138 this topic for the solution he came up with.

Thnx once again,
Jerome

Thanks For the positive feedback

Thanks jerome, much appreciated!

guess it is time to invest in a scheduling/calendar software for me!
I would try as humanly as possible to manage expectations upfront from now on.

Non profit site assistance

taxidev - November 15, 2007 - 04:48

Amit,

Quite a few people here are impressed with your work. I'd like to see a couple of your most complex sites for my friend who is looking for some help rebuilding a site for their non profit. She mentioned Drupal - I had never heard of it - and I can see it is quite versatile.

Maybe you would be willing to help her, or get me started on the Drupal path and I can try to do it for her. I have a fair amount of php experience, but I don't know if I could get up to speed soon enough for them.

Thanks in advance for anything you can offer.

Tom

Site Assistance

drupalexpert_amit - November 15, 2007 - 17:32

Hi Tom,

welcome to drupal! and greetings for getting hooked onto drupal bandwagon!

Right now, i am having some prior committments of work, that i would be focusing on.
Since, you mentioned that you know php, i guess you should already be knowing 80% of drupal
[coz people who dont know any coding already know 60% of drupal, it is that easy!!!]

Best way would be to testdrive a basic drupal install of v5.3 on a local machine.
The following should get you started:
http://drupal.org/handbooks
http://drupal.org/project/Modules

My best developer-to-developer suggestion would be to get started with the friend's site right away on your own.
This would be a learning experience for you and drupal is pretty exciting as well!!

Ofcourse, at the outset you may want to divide the requirements of your project in doable stages.
Me as well as there are many more friendly drupalers on these forums to help you on the way.

PS: Still, if you want me to do this, please share the project reqirements with me via email, i will assess and provide a timescale based on my existing committments.

Regards,
Amit

Drupal: Need Amits services for drupal site

kiriaka - November 15, 2007 - 16:17

Hello,
Just want to say I am impressed with your feedback,
Me: I am the director of Darksun Design Studio
I have a client who has asked for something I cannot do.

Do you have time for a project right now?
To the point:

Project:
Using Drupal, which we have already installed on a test server, create a profile site for athletes -
Functions needed:
A registration for two user levels, Admin, and registered athletes

A backend form that allows registered users to fill in data for their own profiles, and registered users will number _ Unlimited users. (right now there are about 100)

The profile pages that the form data will fill in. Users should have the control over color, font color, and font style only. Form will have about 15 - 20 fields.

Admin will have control to approve users to complete the registration process. So, the first "Sign Up" will be only Name, Email, School, and Sport played - then once admin sends approval, the bigger backend form will allow them to creat their profile page which will be viewable by all.

The site will have a main calendar that gives admin ability to enter user's events coming up: It would be more ideal to give users the ability to enter their own events but if this is economically not feasible or expensive, scrap it and go with admin only

The profile pages will have a spot users can upload a video of their sports performance, so recruiters can see them perform. The actual format of the video allowed, and the size, as well as the modality is up to constraints of Drupal and developer, so let us know with this what is best to allow.

All profile pages need to be printable, so recruiters can print information to pass on to higher ups.

This site is impossible to do without a content management system. Drupal looks like the way to go.
I hate to do this to ya, but the deadline for this project is December 4th, 2007. I can push this if need be though - but the sooner the better.
You can call or email me any time. Toll free number below sig.
Gracias, thank you,

A Public Request

drupalexpert_amit - November 15, 2007 - 17:59

hi kiriaka,

thanks for editing your post so promptly.

For interested drupalers who would be posting on this thread in days to come, my kind request would be to not disclose any financial numbers on the public forum, please use my email for that. I prefer confidentiality and discreetness in such matters.

PS: i have taken up the above project for kiriaka, after slotting the delivery timescales a little away in the future.
This is an initiative i have taken after my resolve as mentioned above, to be upfront on scheduling and set expectations in the first communication itself.

Its amazing what happens

darumaki - December 26, 2007 - 05:13

Its amazing what happens when you mention the word "FREE" let the man breathe I don't think he meant for everyone to beat on his door, IMHO based on his good will gesture, and all it might be better to reserve his free service to small non-profits and/or people that just can't afford to hire someone, some may disagree but if you have to means to pay an expert you should avoid taking advantage of someone's kind gestures.

Amit take on only a tiny few requests and don't let people push you beyond your limits, i'd even say those who pay something is higher priority then those who want the free stuff. Those that want free shouldn't expect pro service.

"Free" was for small non-profit and charitable institutions only

Amit is the best developer: Highly Recommended

SILSolutions - January 16, 2008 - 10:50

Amit is the best developer we have worked with (drupal and otherwise).
We were frustrated with one of our major project, after having hired several developers from the drupal forums. They failed to deliver one after another.. and we were almost in the red.

We emailed Amit and he kindly agreed to clean the mess and get the project back on track. He was very quick and got us ready for launch and delivery within 2 weeks! (where others took more than 4 months to deliver "nothing", and we were sure to lose our client)

The project was done correctly, and the price was very reasonable. Our client was very happy with the final output and the project reached its rightful completion. We are very grateful and highly recommend his services.

Thank you Amit, you are truely the best "drupalexpert"!

X-Post

I posted a shout out...but, it seems you are DA MAN Amit for pro services....

[quote]

I have been servicing a non-profit association of medical professionals for the last couple of years....I think it is time to convert over to Drupal...but, want to pay a pro who has a decent portfolio to guide me through the process. The key issues must be:

Client must be able to upload stock tab-delimited text file (database) from national association and easily upload to site. This is the core database of membership. The output but be customized....I assumed this is called a module.

The other components required:

1)Public/Member Events and News Pages
2)Member forum to interact
3)Member photo gallery with various permissions - maybe this is part of the forum module?
4)Event registration with monies going to PayPal. They have two events a year but that needs to be flexible. Currently I deliver this via www.eventbrite.com
5)About three tiers of permissions-
1)Master Admin which would be me
2) Board of Directors would have some config access
3) MEMBERS-ONLY would have access to the forum.
6) The occasional survey would be nice....

So, if you have experience to this and are located on the west coast....(I am in Las Vegas). Please PM me with your contact info. I wanting to be guided through the process so eventually I can drive the site myself...but, am willing to pay good wages for the service.

I contacted you about a small project to see if you could deliver. You agreed to the project, price and said you would have it done in 2 days,

That was on January 16, 2008. I waited until 24th of Jan and followed up asking what the deal was, still no response. To this date (3 weeks later) I have not heard a word from you.

I wouldn't recommend Amit, unresponsive and doesn't deliver as promised. Very disappointing.

Do Not Hire DrupalExpert_Amit (Amit Gupta)

masonicreferral - May 12, 2008 - 16:23

A word of warning to those of you looking for a Drupal developer.
I hired Amit Gupta (drupalexpert_amit) back in October 2007 to create a Drupal-based site for me.
We agreed to a price and timeframe for the first phase and he quoted the project to take a little over two weeks.
I was promised superior Drupal skills, best value and excellent communication.

Amit over-promised and under-delivered on his Drupal and web development abilities.
- Simple user roles and management functions took longer to complete than expected

Amit over-promised and under-delivered on best value.
- While Amit's price was the lowest I had received, the value wasn't there since I still have a non-functional site

Amit over-promised and under-delivered on excellent communication.
- Reasons and methods for communication were written into the contract and agreed to. They were completely ignored.
In the first 4 weeks Amit was responsive. Following that it could take 1 to 2 weeks to get any kind of response from him regarding the site.

As it became clear that he was in over his head, Amit asked for advances on payments, more time to complete features and reduced feature functionality and I have had to do the research and legwork to help him figure out how to create certain features.

I'm now 6 months into the development and the site is not complete. In the past 4 months Amit has been out of contact more than in, with a range of excuses revolving around personal and family issues.

As I found out on these forums, the "personal" and "family" issues were lies.
Amit has been working on a new business endeavor called Drupal Value Hosting service (DVH) rather than on the website he contracted and took money to build for me.

I share my unpleasant, unproductive and costly experience with Amit Gupta (drupalexpert_amit and Drupal Value Hosting) in order that others looking for developers on this forum will steer clear and avoid this liar and cheat.

Good luck with your search.

I can just highlight your post "Do Not Hire" Drupalpoint.com

tansel - May 13, 2008 - 07:55

I wish I have read this earlier. I hired Drupalpoint alias Websule (Grishma, Amit and Deep). They promised do deliver a Drupal site in 14 days. After deadline passed they came up with one excuse after the another and stopped communicating. They where very unprofessional from the beginning. No status reports, poor communication (if any) and false promises. I am trying to get my money back right now from Elance escrow.

One thing for sure. After such experiences I will only work with Escrow and no upfront or milestone payments.

Why?

Here is my advice after lots of bad experiences with dishonest coders.

The reason why is very simple. I started this project: "Immigration to Drupal" already 6 times.

The first 2 times I did milestone and upfront payments. The coder's could not deliver as they faced problems with Video encoding and I lost my money. The other 4 times I did not agree to any milestone payments and they could not deliver either but at least I did not loose money (but valuable time). My project will not have any value for me unless it is delivered in fully working order.

With milestone payments I feel like I am paying for coder education. Coders with less experiences they just take projects they are not sure if they can do it or not. And that is just because they get payed some upfront and then milestone payments. They are safe at all times. What about the customer. Customer takes all the risk. That can't be fair.

I believe if a coder who is confident in his skills and sure he can deliver should not have any problems with escrow (Elance, RentACoder, Drupallancers, GetACoder...)

If you are a coder reading this -I am still seeking a developer for my project which is posted here: http://drupal.org/node/256853

My best to all of you.

The escrow services.

bekeen - June 5, 2008 - 09:19

The escrow services are fraud I'm sure. Their business is out of low. They have no any objective and legislative control to manage the relationships between the customer and the developer. The escrow is great hole to fake the developers. I work many ears without the escrow and very happy. My customers use their ability to get refferences frome my previous customers and live chat interview with me. That's all and we have no any problems. Don't waste the time and your money for fraud services such as the escrow and you'll be happy too. They are not market experts, they are great scammers.

I also wonder if you did develop any of the sites in your portfolio you are showcasing on your site here: http://www.drupalpoint.com/poetryvisualized.

Whit what you are doing here you are taking credits which belong to other honest developer's and misleading other's.

drupal or zencart, or both?

prankster101 - May 26, 2008 - 10:25

hi, i need a workable solution for my e-commerce site (www.prankster101.com/rsto) where the emphasis is on commerce and content and to create a community.

and i just found this:
http://drupal.org/node/99428
and this:
http://drupal.org/node/199279

it talks about the need for using drupal as a cms/e-commerce solution. it also talks about the need for community.

after a little bit of soul searching, and as stated by someone in the threads, here are my options that i was considering:
A. Keep ZenCart
B. Keep ZenCart and add Drupal
C. Start from scatch with Drupal + e-Commerce/UberCart

apparently, there is a zencart/drupal integration module. i am intrigued by this.
what i want are the following:
store: videogames, music, dvd etc but i also want a record label, fashion label
digital downloads
forum/portal/community
authorised users
cms/online magazine/blog
user generated content

i have an icarus line fansite project that i would like to "integrate"/make part of rather than have as a separate site (more details below). but depending on costs etc, i might just do this diy.

i have had some work done on my zencart site and (link above) i don't want all the work on the zencart to be wasted. as this would involve loss of money etc. but i don't know what to do. i love drupal and i hate the admin section of zencart. so i am inclined to go with option B/C. preferably B.
basically, i want a website and an e-commerce site with the added advantage of it being a portal and allowing a community to flourish. stuff like it acting like youtube/myspace where you can add videos etc would also be nice.

let me know what you think. what will be the costs and projected completion time for the site etc? can i do this by myself? i am already going to buy the new book on drupal 6 so that should come in handy.

finally, here are the band faniste details, and this is what the frontman sent me (obviously, the stuff above takes number one priority, but if we can get the above right, then the following should be REALLY easy - i can take care of the content section - but again, the ability to stream videos etc would be nice):)
"these are things i think make a good fan site...take it as you want
for the site:
complete discography...include year released and formats. also singles, comp tracks, anything else.
links to online reviews/interviews. find as much shit as you can and have it all linked. im sure some other fans would be able to help you with this.
photos. flickr/ myspace/ your own
a bio...
recent news and news archive
message board
lyrics/
exclusive music: once you get up and running i can send you some live tracks and other things that would be unavailable anywhere else. something to keep people coming to your site.
the more information you provide the more people will return to the site. if you make a it a definative resorce you will see that people will help you with content just as separate the sounds was built.
how is it all coming along?"

how much will it cost?

open source drupal can do communities really easily. so the site should be able to harness web2.0 and "wikinomics" to enhance creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, peer collaboration among users. the aim of the cms is to have features etc and user-submitted and editor-evaluated content with every news article and review having a comment section where registered users can post comments.

i also want authorised "editors" who can post etc.

from what i've read, drupal is better than slashcode/slashdot, and another site which incorporates the same ethics/"business model" as www.punknews.org

if you look at http://news.bbc.co.uk/ and http://www.play-mag.co.uk/ you see that there are a lot more articles when you go to the site. all the sites i have shown you only show a couple of articles when you go to the screen. by showing a lot more articles, i can catch the interest of more people who will be glancing at the site.

for someone who doesn't have any coding skills, I WANT TO DO AS MUCH OF IT MYSELF AS POSSIBLE. so in most cases, i would just need simple instructions on drupal modules etc. but i would need help on theming etc.

let me know. and please email me at the_az@hotmail.com

thanks

also, would you prefer zencart or drupal/ubercart?

thanks

We hire him and his work is the worse

The company where I work for hired him.
I can tell you about his work.

He doesn't know drupal, he does database queries against all drupal best practices, he does all the logic in the templates.
He uses the page.tpl as the menu, leading to 404 codes in html headers, drupal not aware of things happening.
He adds node directly to the database and not using functions and hooks.
He definitly doesn't know anything about hooks.
For what I can tell from his work, he know something about themes, but nothing about drupal and doesn't follow any of the good practices.

Do not hire him, all people that hire him will tell you the same, here an example:

Good luck

Maybe Drupal Paid Service need a user rating system

Hi. Everyone.
We all know, that it is difficult to hire someone we don't know, where he lives,...
Si i think, adding a rating system to the drupal Paid services forum, would benefit having a rating system.
What do you think about that?

Been a Top Drupal Project Manager one step at the time.
