When using the taxonomy module, the following steps work for me:

  • Set up a "FAQ English" vocabulary.
    • Assign it English as the language.
    • Ensure it is assigned to the FAQ node type.
    • Create English terms for this vocabulary.
  • Set up a "FAQ French" vocabulary.
    • Assign it French as the language.
    • Ensure it is assigned to the FAQ node type.
    • Create French terms for this vocabulary (equivalent to the English ones in the other vocab).
  • Edit the English version of a FAQ node. Only the "FAQ English" vocab will be provided - select a term from this.
  • Edit the French version of the same FAQ node. Only the "FAQ French" vocab will be provided - select the equivalent term from this.

It should then work. Now it is possible to add terms to just the one vocabulary and assign them different languages. It's then possible to set up a "translation" between them using the Translation tab on the edit vocab screen. However, I can't get this to work even when viewing the nodes themselves and I can't seem to assign any category to the translated nodes this way either. Perhaps log a support request against the Taxonomy module if you want to implement it that way. It seems like that's the way it should work really.

The Category module isn't supported.

Stella

Thanx, it works, categories title is different now for each language. but got new problem, now only one latest updated faq categories shows up and not all categories with faq are showing on faq home page.

have any idea?

Thanks,

I'm not sure what you mean, would you mind elaborating?

Ensure the nodes are published and that the user has the "view faq" access permission. If using the "node access" module, you will need to check each individual node to ensure they have the correct permissions. If using the "Taxonomy access control" module, you will need to ensure that each role (which should have access) can both "view" and "list" nodes in both of the faq related vocabularies.

for example, I have three types of faq, i have added three terms in vocabulary, when i add new faq or update any faq. the faq pages shows only latest updated faq category on main page rather then showing all three categories of faq with faq listed.
faq page show one category at a time, while it was working fine before add different vocabulary for each language.

So, it shows all the nodes in just one category, rather than showing all nodes in all categories, right? Is it after updating a vocabulary, a term within the vocab or a node associated with that term, that triggers this? Can you give an example of something you modify so I can do the same test here?

You're definitely on "www.mydomain.com/faq" and not, for example, "www.mydomain.com/faq/123". Which question layout and which category layout are you using? If you change the layouts does it start working again? What are your other faq categorization settings? Do all three terms have the same parent in the vocab? Or are any of the terms children of one of the other terms?

Stella

No, It show one categories with the faq of that category not faq of all category. I did change only the create three vocabulary instead of one for each language, then added terms in each vocabulary according to language. then i added new faqs to each category(vocabulary).

then the problem comes that faq page is showing only one category with its faq.

I'm afraid I'm still confused, sorry. Can you answer the questions below? Thanks.

  1. What question layout are you using?
  2. What category layout are you using?
  3. If you change the category/question layouts, does it work?
  4. What are your other faq categorization settings, e.g. "Only show sub-categories when parent category is selected", etc?
  5. Can you confirm you are looking at "www.mydomain.com/faq" rather than, e.g. "www.mydomain.com/faq/123"?
  6. Do you have the "node access" or "taxonomy access control" modules enabled?
  7. Can you confirm you have one vocabulary for each language? How many languages do you have?
  8. In each vocabulary, you have 3 terms (aka categories), yes?
  9. Within one vocab, are any of the 3 terms children of one of the other terms?
  10. For each faq node, you have set the category/term for each of its translated versions, right?
  11. Can you give me an example of something that you modify that causes only that category to be displayed?
  12. Is this site live? If so, could you send me the URL so I can take a look?

Cheers,
Stella
