Works really well in an Apache 2.2 / PHP5 environment, only two unnamed menu items pointing to

admin/private_upload/delete_orphans
admin/private_upload/add_htaccess

bother a little bit. They are easily deactivated, though.

Ok, it just APPEARS to work... creating a .htaccess file worked well, also checking whether or not that file is there did.

I didn't dare to try forcing migration on my "live" website, but even when creating new nodes, the newly uploaded files (defaulted to "private") don't end up in that folder.

There are '' files in the private folder, and the DB thinks there are '0' private files. This is a problem.

Keeps saying that.

The "private" checkbox doesn't appear always, either. Existing files (non-private) don't have it attached, re-editing nodes with failed private uploads also swallows the previously visible box again.

Everything looks like one or two mini-issues only, but unfortunately I'm unable to fix things myself right now.

Just saw a support request with a (partially) similar problem. Changed title to reflect that similarity.
