The update.php script returns an error (can't find table comments) when upgrading from 7.x-2.6 to 7.x-2.7

The workaround is to enable the comments module.

Thanks for your report. A fix is already in 7.x-2.x ( http://drupalcode.org/project/votingapi.git/commit/dc756f8 ). I'm also tagging a hotfix release within the next few hours.
