Grouping Items

Can Field Collection Views be used to group items?

I am using Field Collection + Field Collection Views to create an event programme. Field Collection items have multiple dates on them, and I want to be able to group these items by the date. Using Field Collection Views I can already sort these items by date, but not group them.

Real world example: A music festival runs over 3 days. Band A is added as one Field Collection Item, and is playing on Friday 2pm and Saturday 8pm. Band B is playing on Saturday 3pm and Sunday 10am.

The multiple field settings on the date is unchecked, so that my list has 4 items, not just the two bands.
Using the Sort By Filter, my list looks as such:

- Friday 2pm / Band A
- Saturday 3pm / Band B
- Saturday 8pm / Band A
- Sunday 10am / Band B

Which is a perfect start. But, now I want to be able to have an additional Date field that can group these items by the day, so that my list can look like:

Friday
- 2pm / Band A
Saturday
- 3pm / Band B
- 8pm / Band A
Sunday
- 10am / Band B

I have tried using the standard grouping style with the date field, but the date is repeated at the top of each item.

Is this at all possible yet?
