I can't see any similar issues to this but having Drupal installed as a sub directory in the format: https://dev.example.com/drupal_1/ and then trying to access the admin url https://dev.example.com/drupal_1/admin/ causes a weird redirect to the filesystem path https://dev.example.com/var/www/drupal/drupal_1/admin causing a 404 error.

Other urls with a slash at the end are redirected correctly. Just the admin one at fault!

#1743174: Not working when drupal installed in a subdirectory claims the module just doesn't work at all in a sub directory. Hmm! That's not true 10% in this case.
