Keeping in mind that this shouldn't be a space just for release announcements - #1811294: We need more press releases

There are news services like http://globalaccessibilitynews.com/ that are geared for promoting the old school news releases and we can start taking advantage of that to promote Drupal.

The news with Drupal isn't just that Drupal 7.0 had some fixes in it. The news is that Drupal 7 keeps getting better for accessibility just as Drupal 8 continues to do so as well.

How does the community go about writing press releases like this & featuring them on Drupal.org?

I think you can just start draft of the press release in this issue, get some reviews from community members and publish it once it's RTBC.

Hi mgifford, what do you mean by "featuring them on Drupal.org"? Depending on what your end goal is, the News and announcements forum is a better place to put things like this, because, once approved, they can be featured on the home page.

The press releases for D7 were put into a book page because.... I'm not really sure. But maybe it was to make it easier to post the translations?

Actually, tvn tested and book pages can be promoted to the News section on d.o. so disregard bits about forum vs book.

Thanks @lisarex - good to know that it doesn't matter either way. I'll see about discussing this a bit further in the forum.

I do think it would be good to get more press releases out there to point folks to. One every 2-3 years just really isn't enough.

At least every DrupalCon there should be one, but we should also be talking about RDFa, migrations to Drupal 7 to Drupal.org and highlights of Drupal implementations in various different sectors. Fodder that's easy for media to re-print.
