Will transparent png's work with IE 6? I thought there was no way to really get them to work but I checked browser shots on the demo page and it looked perfect. Will any transparent png work with ie6??

You didn't check it carefully, the theme doesn't use PNG images with alpha channels. It has only a tricky graphic design which tries to imitate that. :)
