I'm using the stone color option. On a pc/mac browser it looks great. On an Ipad and Iphone, using Safari or Chrome, the uppermost (newest) article gets a black background behind the title and initial text, which makes it completely unreadable. For an example, please see http://jeprox.me

Yawn8172 commentedExperiencing somewhat of the same thing. The bar with links on the top turns black, and various links go missing. In addition, the top half of first block on the sidebar is block on mobile devices. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Schmigo commentedSame here. It seems do be an IOS6 issue with the grey color ramp. Help would be greatly appreciated, too.

hamish_s commentedSo, I have worked out the problem. There is an image call on the top of both "content-inner" areas in the header and the body that calls the image file . This image is bad! It is a repeated image that is designed to gently roll a light blue at the top into a white at the bottom. However, the Apple browsers see this 1px image as black, and not a fade.
So, the answer is simply to delete the image. The black is now gone. In the alternative, you can make the image wider using gimp or Fireworks, or other image management tool.
For the menu shrouding, you need to go into the image/color (blue/chocolate/pink/stone) folder, and change the width of the bg_menu.png image.
