We should aim for a stable release of VDE, first we should work out exactly what we want to fix etc in the stable release.

what is necessary to get a new release?

It would be ideal to at least roll another beta to incorporate the changes over the last 12 months.

I agree it would be wise to have at least a new beta (if not rc or stable) since the current beta6 is quite old and does not work with PHP 5.5.
