I've found the API ref, and that looks great, but I still can't find what I'm looking for. What I want is a reference of PHP functions that are actually useful to non-developers- things like including pages inside each other, displaying the front page promoted nodes list somewhere else, including menus in pages, etc.

Anyone know where I can find such a list?
Or at the very least- how do I do some of the things mentioned above?
