I think that the most powerful part of the category module is that it allows other node types to be terms (categories). But, as far as i can tell this can only happen if you edit the node and turn it into a term. Wouldn't this be much more powerful if new nodes (that are allowed to be terms) were automatically turned into terms when the node gets created?

It seems a bit unlikely to me that this isn't the default nature so perhaps i am just missing a setting somewhere - in which case please point it out to me.

ok, my bad.. or i guess designer of the usernode modules's bad.

the functionality i am suggesting would be very useful does in fact work as we'd expect - EXCEPT it doesn't work for the usernode module - which was the one i was trying to use for this.

- when a user is added a usernode gets created
- but somewhere during the creation the cat/tax info gets lost and those tables are built correctly.
