if you do show a Who's Online block or a Who's New block, the lists appear to not have margins in both IE and Firefox

Adding the Organic Groups module to a new test site, I found a new instance of this UL margin problem (see image).

I knew this one would come back to haunt me :)

I made an account, but can't see the block in question. I'll need to see the code, and will have to figure out a better approach to handle this.
