I am looking for an e-commerce solution for a small business that sells good online. I am new to this site, and I am not sure if this would be the right place to post this message. Basically, I am look for 2 pieces of information:

1. Would a CMS (specifically) Drupal be a good solution?
2. Is there any way I could get a rough quote on this?

My requirements would be to have a site which has product listings. The look and feel of the web site needs to be completely customizable according to my specifications. It should also have a shopping cart but transactions are not necessary. All we need the shopping cart is for customers to be able to print invoices and send it to us.

And of course, I have to be able to update product listings, categories/sub categories through a web interface.

If this is not the right forum for my request, can anyone offer any suggestions?

Drupal is a perfect choice for your shopping cart site. Infact drupal is recommended over joomla and other CMS out there.
In addition to standard features of a CMS(managing content, layout, themes etc from an online interface), drupal is very SEO friendly. Which would be a very important consideration for a small business like yours.

Most of the functionality is already there in the drupal core codebase and user submitted modules, though some custom module programming would be required for some part of the workflow you have planned for your website.

The rough quotes for this can range from $1500-$6000 based on the quality/experience/country of the person you may be dealing with.
It is always recommended to work with someone who is experienced and possesses good communication skills. Ask for references and get feedback on projects they may have been associated with earlier. Even though you may be paying out more, atleast you will be assured that you will get the right product!

Thanks for the response. Would you know of anyone who would be willing to undertake such a project? The business is located in Montreal, CA and someone local would be highly preferred although not required.

I dont know either this is the right place to post our issue or not but i am forced to write these lines because it is very urgent.
i have some work related to drupal, i did some work on drupal CMS ,but this time i have to Make multisite(subsites might be more than 300+ ) but client requirnment is this that there should be only centralized DB ,only one admin that would be able to modified all the subsite i.e add or delete the content for any perticular site,also he would be able to change the theme of an perticular site without redirect on subsite site,(thats why Db is centralized if db is centralized admin can access each and every thing from the same location)
I tried domain access module, multisite module but nothing is as per client requirnments.

Please help me as soon as possible , try to resolve that thing, what should i do for that
