I found it useful to add a description to the checkbox 'Link title to view' in the settings for a panel displaying a view. Initially my link did not work, so explaining the requirement here may help others.

Here is the patch for 7.x-1.2 dev. It also applies ok (apart from an offset) in 6.x-1.9

The 5 year old patch in #3 to content_types/views.inc still applies cleanly to the latest 7.x-1.x-dev, but still needs to be reviewed and tested.

Hunk #1 succeeded at 286 (offset -13 lines).
Applied patch views_content/plugins/content_types/views.inc cleanly.
