Thanks for bringing this kind of stuff up , its pretty helpful to see. In terms of Panopoly.

Permission Grid - Looks like a cool approach, but obviously pretty new. Also breaks consistency with the rest of the permissions. Not to say the current way is amazing, but it might be wierd to have two different versions. In general, I would say not for Panopoly but shouldn't be any reason why you couldn't include add it later.

Features UI - Definetly. Just rolled in 2.0-alpha2 to the release. Nothing immediately broke, but this will need more testing.
